Laura Mulvey's Theory

Laura Mulvey's theory of the "male gaze" suggests that the world is viewed through the eyes of a heterosexual male. This means that women are highly objectified on many media platforms such as films or in this case music videos. This also means that women can only view these media forms from a secondary, male perspective.

However, this theory can be seen as relatively dated as men's and society's views on women are constantly changing and evolving meaning women aren't being objectified to the same extent by the media.
