Intertextuality

Intertextuality in music videos is when one media text is referenced in the music video. This can be in the form TV shows, films, etc.

Pastiche/ Homage- referencing other media texts in a complimentary way.

Parody- making "fun" of other texts using your music video.

An example of this is:

Fancy by Iggy Azalea's music video intertextualises with the romantic-comedy "Clueless", featuring many scenes that follow pastiche as a form of Intertextuality.
